Gift Program and Donations

Most everyone knows someone or has seen someone with this disease. It can hit anyone at any time. Several thousand Mainers have this disease. If you are an employer with 100 or more employees, there is a good chance that one of your employees has the symptoms of this disease.

Why should you care?

There are hundreds of afflicted Mainers who do not and cannot function well on their own and are in need of some form of care. Parkinson’s Disease and the tremors which result into debilitating conditions could happen to you or one of your family members at any time.

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects more than one million people nationally. Symptoms include spontaneous movements, difficulty walking, shaking, slow or uncontrolled facial expressions, rigidity and tremors. Although research is being done, the cause is still unknown and there is no cure. However, new advances in treatment and research are very hopeful. The Maine Parkinson Society (MEPS) requests your help to provide support and respite care directly to family members and caregivers who qualify, with their doctor’s recommendation, for respite care from an approved provider.

Caregivers throughout Maine and MEPS ask you to consider making a donation at a level comfortable to you.

Contact us for assistance if you wish to consider an IRA Charitable Rollover, a Gift of Securities, or Planned Giving through your Estate.
